Cafeteria & School Store

Choose freely depending on how you feel that day!

KUIS has a variation of cafes and restaurants, including the trendy KUIS café which lunch can be taken or Balconne, where freshly-baked bread can be enjoyed, and the No. 1 student cafeteria which serves much loved set menus. These eateries are also open to the general public and have a popular reputation amongst locals.

KUIS café

The cafeteria on the 3rd floor of Building 7. The daily special lunch is especially popular with the students. On fine days, lunch can be enjoyed under the sun on the open terrace.

Balcone

Freshly-baked bread can be enjoyed at Balcone, on the 2nd floor of Building 4. The bread is baked between 10 am and 12 midday, during which time the smell of baking bread wafts out of the building. Lines of customers soon appear so it is best to aim for 11:30, when most of the bread is ready.

  • Shokujin

The Asian Kitchen, which is one of KUIS's four eateries, serves Halal food. It also has facilities to accommodate Wudu - the Muslim cleansing ritual carried out before religious services. KUIS is the first university in Japan to be certified as 'Muslim friendly' by the Nippon Asia Halal Association.

  • Café space in Building 6

Café space merges with the media plaza. Beautiful warm sun comes through the big windows, making it perfect for a change of scenery.

  • Lapaz

Spacious and expansive Lapaz on the 1st floor of Building 4. Combined with Balconne on the 2nd floor, the two cafeterias have a capacity for 700 people. Apart from lunchtime, these spaces are used by students as rest areas between classes or during breaks.

  • Maruzen (School Store)

This outlet in Building 3 stocks those small things necessary for student life, such as stationery and snacks. There is a 10 percent discount on books or magazines purchased with a student discount. Handy for those times when you suddenly run out of notepaper or are feeling peckish between classes.
