Admission Information

Eligibility for application

Applicants should meet both of the following criteria.

1. Academic qualification

Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree or are expected to receive it before they start their studies in the MA program.

2. English proficiency requirement（ For non-native speakers of English only）

Applicants who are non-native speakers of English must have one of the following:
  • TOEFL ITP 550 or above
  • TOEFL iBT 80 or above
  • TOEIC 800 or above
  • IELTS 6.5 or above
  • EIKEN Grade Pre-1 or above.
The applicants should submit an official score report issued within the last two years* from one of these test(s) or the proof of EIKEN certification. A photocopy is acceptable.

Selection procedure Online (Zoom)

1. We will first review the application materials submitted from the applicants. 2. Selected applicants will be invited to the second step of the examination: Essay writing, group discussion, and interview.

Part 1. Essay writing in English

  • Applicants will write an essay in English about a given topic on English education.
  • They are allowed to use a dictionary.

Part 2. Group discussion and interview in English

1. Group discussion Applicants will have a group discussion on a given topic about English education. 2. Interview An interview will be conducted in English about the contents provided in the statement of purpose.

2024 June 1 (Sat.) ~ 19 (Wed.) Application period
2024 July 10 (Wed.) First screening
July 10 (Wed.) Results of the document screening to be sent by email
July 13 (Sat.) Internet Connectivity Test Session
July 21 (Sun.) Second/Final Screening Examination Date
July 26 (Fri.) Results of the second screening, acceptance letter, and documents for matriculation to be sent by regular mail
August 1 (Thu.) ~19 (Mon.) Matriculation procedure period
September 8 (Sun.) *Tentative Orientation
You will receive instructions for the entrance exam with the result of the first screening on July 10. Please carefully read all of the instructions in advance of the exam. On the exam day, you will need to access a Zoom URL at a designated time. Those who are late will not be able to take the exam, except in unavoidable circumstances.
