In the first year, we build up the "foundation" of English. Vocabulary, English grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and conversational expression are all solidified to build a foundation for acquiring a high level of English proficiency.

Practice and communicate anyway
In addition to the common subject "EIC," students will actually use the English they have learned in the course-specific subjects "Japan Studies" and "Debate Exercise. Under the guidance of both Japanese and non-Japanese instructors, students will strengthen their ability to communicate in a well-balanced manner.

Students are thoroughly prepared for English-related qualification tests. In addition to the TOEIC? L&R Test administered by all departments, the English major courses require students to take the TOEIC? S&W Tests, which measure output skills.

Various Overseas Training Programs
Want to work as an assistant interpreter overseas, study abroad in England, or work for an overseas travel agency? Kanda Institute of Languages is proud to offer short-term overseas training programs at a number of partner schools and companies. You can choose the program that best suits your purpose from a wide variety of options.
Proficiency classes
In addition to common subjects, students in the English Major Course study specialized course subjects in leveled classes. Classes are reorganized in the first semester of the second year.

Class Introduction
Interpreter Training
Students will acquire the advanced operational skills in English (vocabulary, grammar, articulation, pronunciation, and fluency) required for interpreting, and the ability to express themselves accurately and clearly when translating.
Business English Exercises
Students will learn business terminology, useful conversational expressions, and writing skills necessary for working in English. We train students to be active in the workplace by making use of English.
Global Englishes
Students will gather information in English about events happening in various parts of the world from the international media. Students will acquire knowledge of current events and cultures while being exposed to a variety of English expressions.

The goal of the English Major Course is not only to be able to speak English, but also to acquire the English language skills to accurately convey one's thoughts and opinions. This is a skill that will surely be useful no matter what path you take in the future. To achieve this, it is important to have a "basic command of English. By building up the English that you have been learning "casually" into a "solid" foundation, you will be able to further apply it. The English Major Course is unique in that the dreams and personalities of its students are truly diverse. With a curriculum and class environment that expands each student's potential, students will be able to master English and pursue their own career paths.

I was offered a position at my first choice international school.
This course is a great way to learn English, which I love so much. I had never been abroad before, but every day I felt as if I was studying abroad. Because I was immersed in English every day, my TOEIC? score naturally rose from 300 to 805. The friendly foreign teachers and the fun learning environment made me think for the first time, "Studying is fun! I was able to think, "Studying is fun! The place that brings back memories is ECL (see p. 107), where I can chat with people from various countries. Nowadays, we often get excited talking about each other's personal interests, and I feel that my speaking ability has grown. In job hunting, I was offered a position at an international school, which was my first choice. The Career Education Center introduced me to an internship during the selection process, and I was able to get a feel for the atmosphere at the school. I was full of anxiety when I was job hunting, but I was able to receive a job offer from a company that met my expectations thanks to the Career Education Center, which was there for me every step of the way. At the company that offered me a job, I will be working in an environment where staff members come from a wide range of countries, including Central and South America and Southeast Asia, and English is spoken in a diverse range of languages. Aiming for further advancement, I am currently studying Spanish and to obtain a childcare license. My goal is to become a teacher who listens to the children and makes them feel happy to be with me. That is my current goal.

I want to continue to improve my "expressiveness" as a model.
Although English was my strong subject in high school, I was not good at English conversation and even had a fear of it. Enrolling in Kanda Institute of Languages was a challenge for me to overcome my fear of English conversation. During my time at the school, I deepened my understanding of grammar through TOEIC? preparation, improved my vocabulary and listening comprehension, and had many opportunities to speak with foreign teachers in EiC classes, including speeches in English. I then transferred to Kanda University of International Studies to further improve my English skills. At the same time that others around me were beginning their job hunting activities, I took on the challenge of auditioning for modeling, something I had been interested in since high school. Currently, I am active in a wide range of activities from advertising, such as telepic commercials and posters, to fashion shows and music videos. Recently, she has been working as a model for "LifeWear" brand, which she has always loved, and often speaks English with foreign models at photo shoots. When I worked on overseas projects, I received instructions in English from the Pfund side about the world view to be expressed, and I would ask questions in English to deepen my understanding of the subject matter. English is also essential to broaden the scope of my work, as I use English in meetings. My goal is to become a model who can communicate on her own and understand the client's intentions, with a view to taking on the challenge of participating in overseas fashion shows.
